I have a 2005 ranger and my diff started leaking about a month ago and i add oil as needed....
But now its makin a creaking noise and I need to fix it....do you think it would ne smart to go to a junkyard for a rearend or get mine fixed....also is there a more heavy duty rearend I could slap under there relatively easy....any inpumot is appreciated

if it were me, i would look at cost to fix with new vs junkyard, could wind up with same or worse promblem in a year, if you are planning to keep for any length of time fix with new and use a synthetic oil of your choice, i would use amsoil servere gear lube. but some times a persons buget says different

Why would you ignore a leaking diff? Where was it leaking; from the diff cover or the pinion seal?
