the effects of that should be little to no. especially if it is properly aligned

apparently not this is not the first time i have heard this happening with a tbar crank and a ranger. wheel bearing seem to be the first to go. its also pretty common when you google around

Now time to save up to buy some temkin bearings and replace those OEM ones I had Ford put in. Thank guys for all your responses. I hope this will help out people in the future.

a 2wd ranger should have no effect on bearing life from a t-bar crank
a 4wd ranger has some effect but not enough to signinificantly reduce the life of the wheel bearing.
t-bar cranks DO effect the life of ball joints severly

i agree crank away on a 2wd hell get keys and crank those. on 4wd there is more to them hence why they fall apart with a crank

recommendations for aftermarket ball joints? I mean to at least help prevent this issue.

I just did Moog ball joints and centric hubs on my truck, They rock man! I replaced the CV's as well with A-1 Cardones. If you need a hook for Centric hubs I will put ya in touch with the guy I used to get mine and they are the best prices I have seen. Use Rockauto.com for the ball joints

Bearings went out without any warning? I've replaced bearings in two separate trucks, but I could hear the problem before it got too bad- almost like one of my front tires was replaced with a noisy mudder, and the noise worsened when turning on the wheel.

Had bearings replaced in the Ranger by midas this winter. Two days later driving down the road, my bearing fucked itself and the wheel buckled. Imagine if I was doing 80 on the highway when this happened! Needless to say, the tow was reimbursed by Midas, and the front end was repaired including disc/calipers on Midas' dime. I told the 18 year old kid who worked on my truck where to shove that f'd hub, and I will never be visiting any chain again. Oh, and the punk didnt rebolt the bottom two nuts on the shock-- WTF?!?! Used that as an opportunity to replace front shocks anyway.

Glad to hear you made home ok, and that you're running smoothingly once again!

Yea, It just randomly started on the way home. Started with squeeking, then to a loud klnunking. I got lucky I didn't lock everything up.
