Default 1996 Ford Ranger

i have a 1996 ford ranger 4 cylinder automatic single cab long bed xlt 2 wheel drive with 118thousand miles on truck. so when i drive it and just before i come to a complete stop i mean 4-6 seconds before it totally stops by stopping i mean like coming up to a stop sighn and me on the breaks it has almost like a popping feel in the rear end like the driveshaft or rear axel is jus stopping before the tires do i can feel it its notacible no sounds tho just a jarring feel coming from back any ideas? also have a issue is after i been driving awhile when i pull into a parking lot to park and im coasting threw the lot the truck shakes/vibrates alot at low speeds and also when im in park the steering wheel vibrates alot any ideas? sometimes it likes to stick in first gear so im going to change the transmission filter this weekend and see if it corrects that problem and ideas on the rest?

Check your drive shaft u-joints and see if they are the problem. It sounds like one of them may be bad.

maybe something with your breaks. If it only does it while you are stopping, maybe the shoe is cracked and hanging up on the drum. Or perhaps the springs are busted. Could be a lot of things actually, I would take the drums off and have a look inside

Jack the back of the truck up. Use Jack stands for safety. Have someone in the truck while you lay next to the truck and see if you can pin point it. Could be loose U Bolts on your rear springs. Do you have any blocks in the rear? Some people double stack them (who knows why) and they can vibrate. Also check the U Joints in your driveline. Put the truck in park (neutral with brake on) and try and rotate the driveline with your hands and see if there is a noticeable movement.

Steering wheel?
