Default Quick question about the diff oil...

So My truck is a 2003...i bought it about a year ago.... I highly doubt the diff fluid was ever changed.....Truck does not have any problems really...I remember my father and a mechanic that we go to once telling me around the time i first got the truck that it felt like one of the rear tires was pushing more than the other one..i dont remember what side it was..but thats what both of them said....I dont notice it really....Should i go ahead and change this fluid ? will i notice a regain in performance or something? Thank you for your feed back..

I would change it especially if the truck has 100K miles or more.

I think the owner's manual suggests changing the fluid every 50,000 miles for conventional gear oil (80W90), where as the synthetic is supposed to be for the life of the vehicle (75W140). I'm not sure how you would tell which you would have though. Just make sure you know if you have a limited slip or locking differential though because you'll need to add a modifier to the gear oil as well or you'll ruin the clutch packs.
