Default jumping speedometer

i'v ben searching for a bit and i cant find anything really good on what might the problem be.

so anyways on my truck (info in sig) the speedo jumps like crazy at from 35-xxxx mph and reads inaccurate. what do you all think the problem could be. i'v been told it could be the gear gettin play in it or the cable is binding or is just going bad
