Default Need Advice, 04 EDGE 4.0L

Hello Friends, I am in need of some advice. I currently own a 2004 Ford Ranger Edge. It has the 4.0L V6 and 5 speed Auto. I recently did a rear end swap out of an exploder and dropped the gearing from a 3.55 gear down to a 3.73 with limited slip. And as all of you know that includes disk brakes, and stronger axles. But during that conversion I also put some new rims and tires on it as well as a Thrush II glasspack exhaust.

Now, my problem is, since I have converted to a different and lower rear axle gear the ford ECU is still shifting for the old 3.55 gearing and NOT the new 3.73 gearing. Also it has kicked on the check engine light which im sure has to do with the glasspack and/or gear change.

My question to you all on this forum is what you recommend for the most cost effective way to recalibrate the speedo for the new gearing and tires on this truck. Its looking like the best option is an SCT X-Cal 2 Tuner but I dont think that it supports the 3.73 rear axle gearing. I have also looked into the superchips tuner as well for around 230 USD.

Any thoughts? Advice is much needed.

Have your ECU reflashed by a local Ford dealer. They'll have the program needed to fix your problem. It will need to be reflashed with an Explorer 4.0's ECU that was equipped with 3.73:1 gear ratios and limited slip rear differential.
