Ive got a 03 Ranger 2.3L and ive been noticing that when you get up to a certain speed or go up an incline the truck feels like its jerking really bad. I recently tried to trade it in on a new vehicle and the car lot told me the tranny was about to go. Anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be or if it can be fixed or if i need a whole new tranny? It seems like it only does it at 60mph or around 2700 rpm's. Ive also notcied that on the interstate at 70mph its running almost 3000rpms which i thought was kinda high.

it sounds like there's a torque converter problem. 3k would likely be that it isn't locking up in overdrive, and the jerking would be it going in and out of tc lockup erratically. I'd think that would throw a code, though.

buut more info would help.
mileage, rear end gearing, do you tow with it, etc..
