My first post and I'm already begging for a little help.. I have a 1993 Ranger 4.0L 4x2 with a manual transmission that blew itself up when it got abused by my brother trying to haul a too-heavy boat out of a lake.
I found a replacement transmission and this is what the listing says about it: 98 99 00 FORD RANGER MANUAL TRANSMISSION 4X2 6-183 3.0L
Their description seems to indicate that it will only fit 1998 through 2000 Rangers, however I've also read the following:
The manual transmission is the same in the 1993-1997 model and the 1998-present model. it is the mazda M5OD-R1 transmission
Mazda M50D-R1 5-Speed Code "M"
Would this transmission actually fit in my '93 ranger or is there actually a difference between the '93-97 and the '98-present? My Ranger has been awesome since the day I got it, so I'd love to get it up and running again.
Thank you for any help!
Darn it.. It figures I'd have the transmission that's the most difficult to find and expensive to replace.
The ones from the 2.3 engine are about a dime a dozen. Ah well, thank you for the help. Back to searching..
