Default Rear Axle Movement

Good Day.

This is my first post so far there is a ton of information

I have a 2001 Ranger Edge, and was taking the winter tires off when i noticed The right hand axle moves in and out if i pull on it about a quarter of an inch.

Any sugestions on what i might need. to fix this? has anyone had this problem before, I have work out of town on Monday and riht now I'm afraid to drive it.

any suggestions would be great

its suppose to move, that is normal

yeah some movement in and out is normal.

just to verify, if i jack the truck and pull out*away from the truck) on the tire it moves and then if i push in towards the center of the truck it moves.

I'm just making sure im describing it right

if this is normal then thas great.

yes if you ever have to tear down the rear end you want the axle to move so you can get the axle retaining clips off sou you can pull the differential out....

Glad I joined up so far I have learned alot, even figured out my seatbelt issue
