Default Weird sound please help

Hello all i have a 93 ranger 4cyl 5 speed 2wd andi just bought it last week..
I have noticed that it has a high pitch whine at any speed in 1st,2nd,3rd, and 5th gear and it is constant when you have your foot on the gas and does it the worst in 5th on the highway....other than that no other problems....I don't know if it in the engine (doesn't sound like it) or in the transmission or the clutch, throw out bearin, diferential or what!! Does anybody have any ideas??? Thanks in advance

If you don't have the whine in 4th gear, but do in the rest, I would think it would be in the transmission.
Have you checked the oil level in the transmission?
If it be full, I would think you should start looking for a transmission.
Any one else got any thoughts on this?

I posted something similar.

I was thinking about it, and I've noticed that the problem goes away with the clutch disengaged. Only thing I can think of is that a belt might be the cause, as it sounds like it's coming from underhood, instead of underneath. I'm thinking that since it varies with engine noise, it might be a drivebelt or a timing belt. When I last changed my engine oil, I noticed my drive belt was really worn, so I'm going to see if that solves the problem...if not, I'm probably going to have to change the timing belt. As for it being the transmission, I'm going to say no, only because I usually keep my hand on the shifter after shifting, and I've never noticed any kind of vibration or clunking when it's in gear. Usually, the whine only comes when the gas is pressed.

Just my thoughts.

----------

As a thought, I would do the following to see where it's coming from:

Put the rear of the truck on jackstands, making sure to block both of the front wheels so it doesn't roll. Start it, and then act like you're going to accelerate with it in gear. Now, if the whine goes away, it's in the driveline somewhere, because of the fact that while in the air, there's no load on the tires, axles, bearings, etc. If it's still there, then it is either in the transmission (hope not) or in the engine. Could also be the clutch is also worn out, which would taking it apart and looking at everything to determine the cause.
