Yeah, right.
Every single one had a bad tranny. What a *******.
Enjoy your ride, next time tell him to piss off.

Ahhh, ignorance is golden within his mind.

One year of Ranger is not gonna have a bad transmission, and not the others. The auto transmissions within the 1995-2011 Rangers have been the same from 1995-2011. The M5-R1 and M5OD-R1 have been around for longer than 1995. So if one sucks, they all suck. As for the trans being good or not, when not properly maintained, they can be problematic. But what trans runs forever nowadays without maintenance? It is obvious that this guy has had, or has known someone who has had one of these poorly maintained Rangers, and is just venting his frustrations out on random other Ranger owners.

Bottom line, maintain your transmission, and you won't have a single problem. This holds true with any and all vehicles, no matter the make or model.

You heard it from everyone else but.....
Tell that guy that I personally think he's full of shite.
I know at least 4 guys with over 150k (1 is over 200k) on auto Rangers and none have had to rebuild or replace anything but pan gaskets and fluid.

The other guys are indeed right about this one. Thay guy that told you this is so full of shit that it's running out his ears. I've had 3 Rangers over the past 18 years and only one had a tranny problem (faulty torque converter on my 97 XLT). I've had this one for 7 years now and the only real problems that I've had is the clutch. One was due to a busted flywheel. The other burned up due to an extreme oil leak. My first engine dropped a rod and geico's mechanical breakdown dept sent me 2 highly polished terds passing as engines for those wondering about the oil leak.

First off welcome to frf. Now if i were u I would tell that guy to blow it out his @$$. I mean it's a used vehicle. 99% of the time they are great. But every now and then that 1% shits on all of them because someone didn't take care of it. As long as u take the proper steps to maintain it. It should last for awhile. I mean what's the worst that happens u get one that someone didn't take care of and u have to replace something. But once you do u have a great vehicle.

Agreed. That's the key to any vehicle longevity period. If you take care of it, the vehicle will take care of you. If I had seen and heard this guy say that, I would've shoved my fist down his throat. I've got over 110k miles on my tranny.
