sticky clutch
hey guys,
lately i have noticed my clutch pedal on my ranger is not feeling proper.
its getting harder to push in, as well as coming back up really slowly.
so instead of just replacing the whole set up, i was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on what might be causing this problem and if there is a simple fix for it.
all suggestions welcome.

Re: sticky clutch
1st check an make sure enough fluid is in the reservoir. Note the color of the fluid. If it's got a black tint, a seal has surely failed.
2nd look for any possible leaks around the clutch line and at the bottom of the bellhousing (indicating a possible slave cylinder leak). The Ranger's internal slave is a piece. I've replaced a total of 5 since I started driving Rangers in '94.
However, based on my past experience with clutches, the hard pedal would indicate a possible beginning to master cylinder failure.
Lastly, I'd make sure the clutch pedal spring isn't fouled up too. I've never seen a problem with one on a Ranger, but who's to say it's never happened.

Re: sticky clutch
I've been fortunate enough to never have had to replace a MC on a Ranger. Now I've cursed myself...
Probably simple enough to check with Napa, etc on costs. I think the biggest issue you'll have is bleeding the clutch after the change. Major PITA to get all the air out. You'll have to bench bleed the MC 1st before installing which usually leads to spilling some of the fluid all over you and everything else. Just remember that the fluid eats paint so protect what you love from spills.
I'm going to be working on mt truck today so if I see anything that could possibly cause your issue that I haven't already suggested, I'll post.
