Default wheel hub rusted, can't get it off!

So, I have to replace my wheel bearings in my 2004 Ranger 4x4, and I've dissasembled everything down to the actual hub. However, the hub will not budge, I've soaked it in liquid wrench and other oils and beat it with a hammer etc. Does anyone have any good advice for getting the hub off or any experience with this?

thanks

beat the hell out of it with a hammer man, thats what we do at work, it really is pretty much the only way to do it, be careful not to hit other things

I haven't tried a puller yet. I don't have a puller. I guess I'm going to try to heat it up with a blow torch and beat the piss out of it with a hammer tomorrow. I just don't want to mess up the axle.

I didn't realize it would be this hard. I thought it would just come off. but, I guess nothing just comes off easy.

A puller is only 15 to 20 dollars don't risk messing up your CV axle ($80.00)
I had the same problem with mine.. A
This is what I used

Definitely get a puller-don't make more work for yourself. I bought a $50.00 3-arm one from Sears when i was doing my hubs. I tried hitting axle end with a hammer and got nowhere. If you beat on it too much or too hard, you'll likely ruin (Stewie?) the threads and you won't be able to get the retaining nut back on. Lot's of times you can rent a puller from your local parts store.

Thanks guys, I just managed to get the thing off. I had soaked it all night in liquid wrench and then heated it up with a blow torch this morning. After torching it, I noticed a gap where I was able to work a slim pry bar in there and kind of leverage it off. Once I got it started it slid right off.

Can anyone tell me if I need to grease up the akle shaft before sliding the wheel hub back on over it?

Thanks!

no you dont need to grease it, might be a good idea so that it doesnt rust in there but just dont grease the threads for the nut

Alright, she's all back together after being up on jackstands all weekend. Now that I know the trick to getting it off, the other side shouldn't be too bad next weekend. Thanks again!

another cheap easy way is take all the bolts out but one.Loosen the last one up so its 3/4 of the way out. Then take a long bar from the last bolt head to the frame or some other sturdy object. Have someone hold it there while you turn the wheel the slightest bit. The pressure from the power steering pump will push it out in no time flat. Other way is an air chisel.

Amazing trick to know. I beat on the hub assembly for at least an hour. Found this trick on here and decided to try it. I used a socket and extension and braced it up against the shock mount on the control arm. Once my dad came over it took all of about 2 minutes to actually get it off
