Question 8.8 Rear end conversion

I have a 1998 long box manual ranger that has a rear end going out in it. I want to do a rear axle swap to a 8.8 from an explorer with rear disk brakes. I am wondering of what all I have to do to make this happen. I want to know how easy it is to bolt it up. Do I have to change out the u joint, drive shaft, and what do I have to do to hook up the new breaking system. If anyone knows the answer to these questions I would be very thankful to hear from you...Thanks

The shock mounts have to be relocated. Which requires welding.

Do I need to change anything else out except shock mounts?

if you are lowered, nothing has to be welded. if you want to stay stock height, then new spring perches will need to be welded on and lower shock mounts. i have one in both my 95 and my 93. both are completely bolted in. no welding, no mods.

no, i have 6' beds. bit that shouldn't make a difference. it drops the rear 4-5" just like a flip kit would. ds bolts right up. it sits in the same place as the original, so lengths don't change.

What would I have to do to properly drop the front to level it out, but it not be too expensive?

the rear is simple. only issues some people have had is with the parking brake cable. mine hooked right up, no problem. search around, you'll find a ton of info on it.
