Default driveshaft play

2009 ranger, 4 cyl, automatic-seems to have a slight hesitation in drive train before engaging when shifting from reverse to forward. Especilay first thing in the morning. Feels like it might be in the drive shaft or rear. I notice some play when I move drive shaft back and forth by hand with the truck in neutral. How much play is normal, I seem to have about an inch where the drive shaft enters the rear. I believe the Drive train is still covered by original 5 year 60,000 mile warranty. Any help will be appreciated. Truck has 46,000 miles.
2009 ford ranger, 4 cyl, automatic, extended cab. I just bought the truck with 46,000 miles on Feb 25th 2011.

Take it in to the dealer while it is still covered!
