Default Rearend from 96 Explorer for a 91 Ranger

Ok I'm having a troubled time finding direct swap on a rearend for my 91 Ranger. So I've got to do something else. I can get a 96 Explorer Sport CHEAP.

What am I going to run into trying to make this work?

$$$! even if same width, you have drum to disc swap so hoses, master cylinder, etc. need changed, usually less than $100.00 for all.

Try this link; I've already found it useful.

I got a quote for a expo axle for $275 from a junkyard complete with hoses and brakes and everything. The expensive part is the grinding off and rewelding on the spring perches to the top of the axle and relocating the shock mounts

If you want to lower your ranger dont have to do much, if not search for a axle flip kit on ebay or ruff stuff. I am waiting on axle gears before I finish welding on new brackets. I have read on the ranger station you will need a different hose from axle to the hard line on the body, and you do not have to change master cylinder or any other stuff. It is easy to grind off old brackets, I would grind in half and knock off with a hammer, some people grind off carefully and re use brackets. I noticed mine were a lot longer from ruff stuff , should help stop axle wrap. Get all the stuff done to axle before installing, will be much easier.
