Default 3.73 swap 4.88 issues

Hey folks I have help a bud of mine do the bodylift and gear swap tonight, I went from 3.73 to 4.88, I notice when I start the ranger up, and put it in gear and give it some gas, It Kicks! and does the same in every gear. Could someone tell me what the problem is as I had the gear oil changed out tonight with (Ford Motorcraft 75-140 full synthetic) ?

Also the hurst shifter that I put in a month ago is now sitting much lower in the ranger, what can I do about this? how can I get that height and some back again? Thanks!

Also my rear bumper is not lining up right, well it's on but without those long stock security brackets on each side. for some reason my bud say they wont line up right, any ideas? thanks

Idk bout the kick. For the shifter, you'll need to make/buy and extension IIRC. What exactly is wrong with the bumper? I'm confused on that.

Can you elaborate on kicks? is that like a bucking, skipping or jerking? is there any noise along with the kicking? My dad just did his gears and is having problems with his. But he did not setup backlash and preload nor did he put any shims in. I wonder if the ring gear is not close enough to the pinion, or the pinion is not set right?

On my dads he had alot of wear marks just in a weeks time, indicating that the ring gear is to tight to the pinion. I will be working on his tomaro.

most body lift kits ive seen (online at least) give you the option to order the shifter extention.
This is for the stock shifter, im not sure if it'll work with the hurst

For the truck to buck etc like that sounds like the gears wasnt set up right, did you set backlash and shim it correct?

gears set up right, Nah that aint it, it was a direct swap from another members truck, I figured it out though, my mechanic said it has to do with the play in the drive shaft. he can get it fix at a shop but it's normal to have some play
