Default Shaking at high speeds and when braking

First off let me apologize if this is the wrong section, i didnt know where a brake topic should go. So basically I was taking the passenger side wheel off and a stud broke off with a nut. I went to advanced auto and got a stud but it didnt wanna stay put in the hole. Thinking it would be ok once tightened i just let it be and tightened the lug nut to it. Drove the truck like 8-15 miles home from the shop and it was all good. Drove it back out today and started noticing a nasty shake from like.......30/35-55+ that gets even more pronounced once hitting the brakes.

So i know youre all thinking at this point....warped rotors....but i just dont understand...How? Overnight...really? As you know i had to take the rotor off to get the busted stud out and the new one in...i guess it could have happened then?

Maybe its because im forced to ride a donut a full inch smaller tire and rim size than the rest...This tire was on front right, but after i noticed the shaking i put it in the rear and a regular size up front. Still there. Could having the wrong stud be doing this? My guess is no and my rotor/rotors just got fucked up some way. Its like a front to back bucking shake not a left to right, which makes me think it isnt balancing/alignment. Is there any way i can check to tell if it is the rotor? I feel like its coming from up there but i cant pinpoint it and i might just be paranoid. Any advice i greatly appreciate, i really dont have money to buy new rotors...and dont tell me oh theyre only 100 bucks cause to some people thats a shit ton.

I just got her back to running right and now this

i doubt its a lug or the nut, if you took the rotor off did you make sure you put it back EXACTLY the way it was? and how bad is the bucking?

If the stud is not pulled (seated) all the way into the rotor, it might be holding the rotor out from the hub. So yes, it would be wobbling and I bet it is much scarier than a simply warped rotor.
The donut might be WAAAAAY out of balance too, compounding the other problem.
It might be out-of-round, causing the bucking no matter what position it is in.
Tough call - just tryin to help

yeah, i think youre the most right twisty, cause thats exactly when it started up. Im going to try and get the right one today and see if it dont fix it. Its a pretty bad buck, and im kinda noticing it at start up too. Its actually kinda scary yes but idk ive almost flipped the ranger so nothin much scares me in it past that! lol ill post up and tell you guys if thats the problem...what about the uball or u joint or whatever? Think that coulda went out?

and yes im pretty sure i put the rotor on right theres really only one way it goes i think casuse of the indented section it just wouldnt look right ya know

Check your rotors, sounds like low or some warping has happened there

How can i 'check' them? I looked at it and it did seem kinda warped but i honestly dont trust myself i think im paranoid. I got the new stud seated in and the only issue is that its a tad shorter than the rest but at least its in there. Shaking persisted.

What worries me now is that there is play when i attemp to move the wheel from left to right while its off the ground. Not an extreme amount but more than i am willing to say is right. What could this mean? My whole god damn dash shakes including the steering wheel!

As for balancing/allignment issue, i dont think it would be this bad. From left to right the ENTIRE dash shakes while breaking and somewhat while driving

for a quick check of the rotors you could get a good straight edge and hold it on there and see if it sits flush all the way across.

Ill try that, but im thinking it may be a bad wheel bearing? I tried to tighten the big nut that holds it all on but it didnt budge and there is still some play....is that play normal? It should be pretty tight right? The other side wheel was on the ground not moving while the lifted wheel had play from left to right.

you may want to check the tie rod ends as well that could be causing the shaking and stuff as well

i would check the rotors and if its not that then i would go to the tie rods. i had a mercury topaz that the front end would shake a lil not much and checked the tie rod end and it was about shot. i had caught it just in time before it went completely out.

Just take the rotors to your parts store and have them turned, just to see if that fixes it. Its only $8.50 per rotor at my O'rilleys.

I am pretty sure its the tie rod. I was checking that the day before yesterday after i found the play in the wheel and from the covered boot part i can hear a pop and feel a pop when the wheel is turned left to right. Orded the TRE last night, going to go pick it from the store after breakfast. Will post back with results.

They didnt have a full tie rod but they did have the wheelside component. I replaced it and the terrible shaking and vibrations and wobbles are gone. Like so many threads i have read about this type of problem, i couldnt visibly see what was wrong with the old part, but it musta been shot. The only real thing i could tell was that the bolt that goes through the mount near the wheel was pretty rough and could feel some grinding, but i took the boot off and under all the grease it really didnt look terrible. Who knows, i havent driven much but there was no shaking whatsoever so im saying its fixed!
