so my gf got a new truck and gave me her old one to play with its got a 4r44e in it the motors a 3.0 it has problem shifting from 2nd to 3rd u have to let it jump to 4grand then let off the gas and let the rpms drop to 2 grand for it to shift and the trannys flashing a code idk what it is never got it check anyone knw whats wrong truck is goin to be for 4 wheeling mostly but i do still wana beable to register it and drive it on the road is the another tranny i should use or should i keep the 4r44e if so what might be wrong with it thanks yall

Unfortunately, we can't really tell what is wrong with it until we know what the code is. You can take it to a trans shop, or find someone who has a higher dollar scanner, as the ones at Autozone cannot read Ford transmission codes. However, if the trans shop tells you what they think is wrong with it, take it with a grain of salt. Shop around, and you'll see that the trans shops diagnosis' are all different. So, just get the code and post back here so we can tell you more accurately what the problem may be. Trans shops are trained on transmissions in general, and not each specific quirk a specific transmission has. That's where we come in.
