Default re gearing question

so i might have a rear end with 4.88s coming my way, but for this to work i need to re gear my front diff. so i found a set of gears for the front, but will i need anything else besides the ring and pinion? ill have to find a shop to do it of course, but do i need other parts with the ring and pinion when i take it in?

I really dont understand why they have to go to a shop. I just did mine and it was a peice of cake. The front was the whole diff but the backs were super easy. The gears mesh perfectly.

Anyhow, you might consider installing new axle seals (front/back) Pinion seals. Possibly replace the carrier bearings just cause you have it out.

dont you have like clearances and stuff that are very delicate? i have heard of people burning up diffs from having them just barely off... but i dont need the rear end regeared, just the front diff.

I dont know, I have heard alot about diff install kits that give you all these spacers and things. On mine it was just the bearing, crush washer/plate, flange, nut. Done. I did not even see a spot to put any kind of spacers anyhow. As for the ring gear, just unbolt your old one and bolt on the new one. I dont see anywhere to put spacers on that either. The carrier has no slop, that just goes in and bolts up.
