Exclamation Oil leak? Visible trans fluid?

Don't know if this belongs here, but need some help either way. I was installing my underglow yesterday and saw a small spot of oil on the ground that was coming from my truck. Could not find where it was coming from so I would like to ask where all the places it can be coming from and how to stop it. Also I looked at my drive shaft rubber thing and see some red trans fluid around it (but not leaking). Is this something I should consider taking to a mechanic and getting it checked out or can I fix this myself? Any help whatsoever would be so appreciated. Thank you so much.

Transmission rear seal is easy to replace.

As far as the oil leak it would be best to check around oil pan.

Is there a write up on replacing the transmission seal? I would love to get all this done and out of the way this weekend so I can stop worrying . Thanks Mykhael.

No write up on here. Search youtube for a video.
To keep fluid from coming out. You need the rear end higher so it stays toward the front.
Remove driveshaft
Knock out seal with punch or flat blade screwdriver
put some rtv silicone around new seal and tap it back into transmission carefully.
If u got a socket the size of the seal you can use it to tap in the seal.

For the oil leak, look at the gasket on the drain bolt. Whoever changed the oil on my truck before me fudged the gasket all up, so I have a slight leak coming from my drain hole. It's not alot though so I haven't bothered to replace it. Will be doing that next oil change though.

You should also check the back of the engine to see if the rear seal is leaking.
Would be a pain to fix your self.

Where is the rear seal on the back of the engine located? Where to look at to find it because I don't know what the seal looks like

Would be hidden by the transmission. You would be able to see any oil around the back of the engine.

Okay cool, hopefully I'll be fine throughout this week until the weekend. Or I might just go outside tonight and look at it. Thanks again.

I'm always skeptical about throwing the rear main seal idea out, as alot of times that's not the real cause. There could be a break in the oil pan gasket at the rear of the motor as well.
