hey i have a 1995 4.0 manual 5 speed ranger with the electronic 4x4 switch on the dash. last night i went out and it worked fine whenever i needed it. this morning i went out and could barly get out of my driveway. usually when i switch into 4x4 the light will come on and u can here a small click from the dash but this time nothing no light no 4x4 and no click. so any ideas. i have heard that the switch will sometimes die but how can i test the switch without getting a new switch and what els would be easy to check?

Did you check the fuses in the cabin box and the power distributionbox? are there other things that are not working?

everything is working fine other than the 4x4, i think the 4x4 blinkers and dome light are all tied into one 30 fuse and my blinkers and dome light work fine, i will have to double check when i get back to my truck. do u know the fuse # ?

I dontt know the fues #'s but you might have a fuse just for the 4x4 in the power distivution box and then you might have some fuses in the cabin panel that are for 4x4 and other things......look in your owners manual

ok ill check both then get back to you thanks for the help. any idea on how to test the switch incase the fuses arnt bad thats my next guess.

1. did you check the module.
2. has your shifter ever been replaced.

my Ranger had the problem with it making a click from the module, but no light. I discovered it was my Shifter motor and i had it replaced and it works fine now. Your shifter motor also could of seized idk.
