oh i got it now. i thought u were implying leaving my current rear and just switching the front axle. hense the front and back would have different gear ratios. But i could easily just regear the rear to match the front axle. That makes alot of sense. I was overhtinking the whole axle process and never even thought of doing that.

Oh yeah, and i noticed that for alot of crossover steering setups people use 2wd boxes since the pitman is set up different on a 4wd. Since i already amd using a 2wd drive box would the crossover steering bolt right up?

are you thinking about using leaves or going coilover with a link style setup?

leaf-springing it would be far easier.

As long as you use the high steer arms you will be fine wih the high steer and cross over you will just have to tweek it a bit for your application.

Edgeman- To a point yes if he hasnt done a SAS before he can do the coils off a jeep or bronco without a problem if he watches what he is doing. The coilover though i would thouch if you are a rookie to it due to having to develop your own 4link, 3link etc system.

I'm going to go with leaf for sure, one because it is cheaper and two because it is easier like mentioned^. I live in Naples fl, all that we have around here is swamp, so I'm not looking to build a serious rig that as a ton of flex.(Given i want as much flex as possible with the leaf set up) I just want a bad ass ranger that will get me wherever i want to go.

When you get into it if you need help just let me know its pretty straight foward you just have to keep a eye on spring location and how your axle is going to swing

Are you talking 3,4,5 leaves in a pack or lift?
1. What size tire are you trying to run?
2. How much body/ fender are you willing to cut?
3. More flex or more mud running straight line?
4. Which axles are you going to run?
Answer these and I can tell you more

Me- Using fullsize 44 front 9 or 8.8 in rear

Run a 35in tire
In the rear use a Ford 59" leaf with the overload spring taken out for more flex
in the front with hight/ crossover sterring I would run maybe a 4-5in lift leaf (about a 46in leaf) with the over load spring setting the front perches into the frame with a rossmember in front to tie it togather. A Bell shackle on the rear (depends on your rear location.)
Keeping my COA as close to the ground as possable I would flex one side cut where needed and add limiting straps.

Waggy 44front/ waggy 44, expo 8.8, chopped 9 rearRear same as above but use the Procomp PN 31211L and 31212R (yota lift springs) in the front or Rancho 44044 also setting the front hangering as much into the frame as I can.

I want to run 35s, but i will go smaller if it involves to much cutting so... minimal cuttting. It will be more for mud. And im pretty sure i wanna run dana 44s front and rear.

Yeah I would just run what I said up top but for the rear you can leave the overload spring in if you would like to thaat would be up to you
