1996 Ford Ranger 4.0 2wd with Transmission Problems

I have a 1996 Ford Ranger with a 4.0 and 2wd with some transmission problems. When I bought the truck it had a brand new transmission but they could never get it to move. The linkage is all hooked up and working on the transmission and also the electronics. I have been stuck on this for 2 weeks now and can not get it figured out. I figured if the linkage on transmission moved then by laws of nature the transmission should go into gear. It has got me.

I have checked everything I can and did what I can and now I am going to turn it over to you guys to lend a helping hand. I want to thank everybody in advance for any sugguestions and all the help I can get.

Fluid level?
is it correctly installed?
Is the torque converter there?
pictures?

diagnosing stuff like this over the internet is like doing surgery blindfolded

hey im have that same problem with my same ranger
