Default truck jerks when put into D

Hello everyone.

My 2005 Ford Ranger EDge 4.0 L 4x4 (automatic transmission) has about 8000 Km left on the extended warranty so I wanted to get any issues fixed asap.

I took it into the dealer already for this problem but they said it was fine.

When you put the truck into reverse or drive it kinda wants to jerk forward or reverse. Kinda has a clunk sound to it..

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this??

Thanks!!

Check your fluid levels. Might be that. I would say vacuum diaphram also, but your truck's too new to have one.

If the dealers saying it's normal and that's how they work have him show you the same behavior with a new truck they have on the lot.

I would have the same problem but no noise. When I get off work sometimes, I would start the truck up and put it in reverse. Then when I put it into drive and want to starting going forward, the truck sits in place as I'm gently stepping on the accelerator as the RPM is revving up: nothing. So I would step off the accelerator and do it again and then I would get a jerk from the truck and then start going forward. This doesn't happen often but sometimes. Other than that truck runs fine and more smoother now that I cleaned the MAF, throttle body and IAC and installed a new air filter.

Welcome to the fun that is Ford automatic transmissions.

If it eventually goes into gear, I wouldn't worry about it. Ford refuses to recognize transmission faults on the Ranger, so the only way something will be done is if you can find a genuine dealer who knows the problem and is willing to fix it.

Oh boy fun .Oh it definitely goes into gear. When it happens, I put it back into park, then into drive, and it will drive normally from then on.
