Default wow how about this qoute...?

I called the dealer today to see about cost for replacing all 3 U-Joints in my axle shafts. I was actually really surprised at the cost. He said $399 for the labor and $45(ea) for U-joints. I know I can get the U-Joints cheaper at the autoparts store, but still for Ford to do all the work and parts for under $600, I don't think that is to bad. Considering its a tough job to get to those. The front diff has to be dropped, the eniter front end has to come apart also.

What do you guys think on that price? Should I jump on it? BTW, its to F-ing cold for me to do it, I have the know how but I can pay for the right price just so I don't have to piss with it!

Sometimes its just worth it to pay rather than your time to do it .

I would pay it if its that tough .

Believe it or not from Great Lakes Ford...! Al Jackson is the guy I talked to, he gave me his direct line and said to make sure I call him, otherwise I will most likely get a higher qoute.

It almost felt like he's pissed off at ford and is getting some "shop" justice....hahahah

yeah I wish I had the coin right now to get it fixed. everything is on hold until tax time, im sure alot people have that delema! lol. Its really bad tho, the outers are "ok" but the inner on the pass side has about 2" of slop in it, im sure all the bearings in the cap are gone. Plus I plow with it, everytime I go forward-reverse-forward I can gear that thing just a slaming down there!

I kinda wanted to do it just because I have a set of 3.73 gears to thro in it. It has 3.55 right now and I'd like to have a little bit more bottom end. Maybe ford can swap in the front diff for me seems how it has to come out anyhow..? then I can handle the rear afterwards.

When you say drop the diff, is that so you can remove the intermediate shaft from the side of the diff?

Either way, that sounds like a really good price knowing how many U-Joints are on a TTB equipped truck.
