Default Rounded off M/T drain plug

Hi All,
I have a 1993, Ranger XLT, Regular Cab 2.3L, 2WD, M/T 5speed and was having hard shifting problems due to a sloppy shifter so I was going to replace my shifter bushing like this http://www.therangerstation.com/Maga...erbushings.htm but all the blue rubber bushing was ground up it little pieces and most of it had fallen down into the transmission.

I then thought that I would drain it and spray it all out with a cleaner getting the pieces of the rubber bushings out that way, but my drain plug was completely rounded off (looks like it was sealed with something and the previous owner had unsuccessfully tried to remove it with a vise-grip) and I couldn't get a grip on it.

Are there any suggestions so that I do not have to remove my tranny?

If I do have to remove my transmission, does anyone have pictures of the bolt locations?

It’s my understanding that there are 8 of them and that the top ones are a PITA.

Are any of them reverse threaded bolts?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Bobby (MdKnightman)
