Default What transmission is this?

I started doing a transmission swap on my friends late 80's ranger. He ended up buying a trans from another state and doesn't remember what year ranger the trans came out of and according to him....has no way of finding out. I took a picture of a sticker from the trans, see attacked image. Does anyone know how to tell what year truck this trans came out of?

I need the year because his OEM hydrolic clutch fitting does not fit in the trans be brought me. The one in his truck is a plastic fitting. When he brought me the "new" trans it had that OEM line cut but the fitting still attached. The "new" one that was cut had a bras looking fitting. I simply can't get his plastic fitting to seat in the "new" trans. I'm almost wondering if he needs a new line/fitting. The other strange thing is there is no reverse light hook up on the trans he brought me. On the broken trans I took out, the reverse hook up won on the top right section of the trans. The "new" trans does not have one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I talked about a hydraulic clutch fitting, wouldn't that make it a manual only? Sorry for not being specific, it's a manual transmission.

----------

I can take more pictures of the trans. Where are the casting numbers on the trans?

Most the numbers should be toward the end of it on a tag.

All I found was M5R1 4.0L

I've been searching all week for this. Do another random search and get this.

If I'm reading this right, the trans he gave me came out of a 1995?

Is there a site that you know of that lists compatibility between the different years? At this point, it's already up in the truck. I'm wondering if I can get away with buying an adapter, if they make something like that, or if I need to buy an entirely new hydraulic line/fitting that works for the 95. If I get a 95 hydraulic line, will it even bold up to the master cylinder in his.

----------

Ok, I found this. Now I just need to find out if it'll fit into his master cylinder.

Anyone know if a 95 hydraulic line will fit up to an 88 master cylinder?

the part number starts off with F5. that means 1995. thats about all i know...

(F= 1990, 5= 5. so you get 1995)
