Unhappy '00 XLT 4x4 stumble at speed... O/D issue?

i posted a thread about this ongoing issue my trucks been having while driving, i think i may have pinpointed the problem to be something with the trans, and not the engine as i originally thought. btw, the truck is an '00 XLT 4x4 with a 4 speed auto trans, and the 3.0 v6, and just under 73,000 miles.

driving along at 45-55 MPH, if i keep my foot out of it, the truck likes to drop into overdrive. im fine with that, but the problem is if the road starts to pull even a slight uphill grade and i need to tickle the throttle to maintain speed, the entire truck starts to shake, and its been getting worse ( thought it was an issue with the wires at first, now it feels like a horrible alignment issue).

but if i lay into it a bit more, it downshifts and the problem clears up.... untill it drops back into O/D and needs to downshift again. just to be sure, i drove out to work and home with the O/D off, and not a single issue.

just wondering if anyone knows what the heck could be wrong, mabe a sensor, relay or a shift solinoid, something like that? im just praying im not gonna start to loose my trans.....

man if your worried about wireing n sensors,and if your truck is clean underneath just crawl under it n really look and inspect everything,make sure what wires you can see to anything on trans is clean not broken or cracked up showing bare wire.also clean electical things plugged or bolted into it,then drain a quart of trans fluid go find a can of trans-X this will help any trans mechanical probs,and significantly improve shifting,and clean it the proper way.unless you haven't changed fluid n filter in a long time. lastly if it's 4wheel drive go n have your slip yolk and u-joints looked at shakeing or shuddering may indicate a bad u-joint,or you've been useing o/d to much intown n to much short time stop n go driveing in o/d and it's stressing what it's ment for,like me it saves gas greatly but rangers were truly made to drive o/d on longer driveing like highway cruisin.
