Default tryin to pull tranny

I am trying to pull the standard transmission out of my 07 behind a 2.3l. I must be missing a bolt that I cannot see. Is there one at the very top holding the two together. I have the starter out and have removed bolts from 1 o'lock to 11 o'clock. I have the jack under the oil pan and the tranny itself all the way down and still cannot see the top. If there is one there how do I get to it? Is there a secret?

I just did the clutch on my 99 I think it is the same m5od. there were a total of 8 bolts 2 at the top about 6 inches apart, 2 at the bottom about 6 inches apart and then 2 more on each side. I was able to get 7 of them with a 3/8 ratchet and a 13mm? socket. I did use 1/4 ratchet on one of the side passengers bolts. if you have the 8 bolts out it is probably just stuck. that happened to me. you just have to work it out.try a flat bar or screwdriver between the tranny and engine. I also found out that removing the shift lever stub helps in installing the tranny

I found the last bolt. thanx. Could not see it til the tranny was out. Could feel it. Had to go in over the tranny with every 3/8" extension I had, and feel it on the bolt. But its out. Now I find my pilot shaft bearing had disentergrated and burred the pilot shaft. Got any suggestions as to how to get it out? 3/4" hole and no lip left to pull. The race is hard steel and I cannot chizel it out.

They make a pilot bearing tool. You also could try the grease method. Fill the cavity with grease and push in a 3/4" rod. It should act like and hydraulic device and force out the bearing

----------

I also have heard of people cutting a race/bearing out with dremmel tool with a flex head. But maybe the 3/4" rod and grrase will let you drift it out

The pilot shaft bearing was a challenge. All that was left when I got the tranny out was the outer race, one neede bearing and a small piece of plastic race. I tried 2 pullers from 2 parts houses, but neither would fit behine the race. The tools minimun size is 3/4" and that is what the Ford is, 3/4". The grease method works for bushings but have not had luck with bearings including this one. I finally used some small files and cut a slot down one side til I could pry it out. Took a while, but I was sure proud when it came out. Finished the job and the truck runs well. Thanks for everyones help.
