Clutch play in 92- help please
I'll start by admitting I am very automotive challenged. My well loved '92 Ranger is currently at America's Service Station in Norcross, GA. It's having a new radiator, water pump and thermostat installed.
I have also developed an issue with my clutch play. Just in the past week. It's not to the floor, but a good 3-4 inches of play before it engages. I mentioned this to the tech at A.S.S. (like that?) and without hesitation he says "yeah, probably need a new clutch kit, maybe $1300." The guy didn't take a breath. Just blurted that out. Seriously?!
That was all replaced in the past 3 years. The original kit lasted from manufacturers date until 2007. No sir. Isn't there something that can be adjusted or possibly a fluid that's low or something? This is where my ignorance is on display.
My MANY thanks to anyone who has some wisdom to share. In the meantime, I'm gonna surf through some '92 posts and see what all you guys and gals have to say and share about these vehicles. The more you know...
