Default TCC solenoid replacement?

Anybody got any info on it? I had the code pulled and it read out as Torque Converter Control Solenoid Stuck Off. What could cause this? Loose connection? Bad solenoid? Truck only has 45K on it, does this sound a little early for this problem? Thanks for any info guys.

I had this problem with my 97 with a 5r55e, it eventually caused the tranny to fail. I don't remember what casued this problem. But the truck would not shift into OD or the convertor wasnt locking in at highway speeds, I would have to turn the truck off/on again rapidly and then the truck would shift/lock up TC.

Same problem i'm having. Any time I get to about 50 mph, or when I go up a steep overpass/hill when I guess the torque converter is supposed to lock for overdrive or whatever, the light will come on. And when the light comes on, the computer puts the trans in fail safe, and then I have to pull over, shut the truck off, and then start it back up. After that, all is fine again until the TC has to lock again.

I don't like that your transmission failed just because of the stupid solenoid. Thanks Ford!

I'm definitely gonna have to get this taken care of ASAP.

yeah that sucks, Mine had gotten to a point where it wouldn't stay in reverse either. I don't know if it was because of the TCC selinoid or not, but I rememver having to slam the shifter up to even get it into park. I eventually broke the shifting shaft that went down the steering colum. I had to shift my truck manually from underneath. It was not fun. But the trans was pretty shot by now anyhow. It wasnt shifting right, slipping/slamming into gears. I ended up converting it over to manual.

I think it can be fixed, but the solenoid is in the trans I believe...?
