Default Clunk In 4x4

96 Ranger, When I turn left while 4x4 or Hubs are engaged I get a horrible clunking from the passengerside, while turning right I have no problem.

"U-Joint at the knuckle? or another problem?

IF thats the case what all is involved in changing that U-Joint?

Thanks in Advance!

yeah it sounds like an outer u joint. to replace it youll have to take the knuckle off and seperate the outer axle shaft from the slip joint and pull the shaft out to replace the u-joint.

Thanks, In another thread I was reading On an older late 80's model someone said something about having to remove a snap ring in the dif to get that axle out, is that the case on my 96?

no because there is a slip joint in the shaft between the diff and the knuckle on the passenger side so you can pull it apart there.
