Default Stuck in 4 wheel drive?

For the last few weeks my truck has been making a deep humming noise coupled with an acute vibration [in the pedals and steering wheel]. The symptom occurs at all gear ranges, but is the worst from 35-45 mph.
At first I was concerned about front wheel bearings, but the noise seemed to be indicative of something transmission related.
I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to what it could possibly be. I'm hoping the transaxle isn't stuck in the four wheel drive...although the front tires are disengaged from 4x4. Thanks for your time, and I look forward to hearing back!

did your gas mileage change much? the other thing could be a bubble in the tire or an allignment issue. did the truck start doing that right after you put it in 4x4?

My apologies for not getting back to this sooner to address it. What it was was the left front bearing hub assembly...like many of the diagnoses I have researched. Replaced it, and it runs like a champ. Thanks for the concern, ben10.

just FYI...your front end is never disengaged from 4wd...the front hubs are a full time set up...the only thing that happens when you engage 4wd is shifting the transfer case...not sure if you knew that or not

Hey thanks...I appreciate the insight. I had an idea about that, but wasn't exactly sure. I know a good bit about cars, but obviously I don't have it all figured out! lol
