Default 4x4 disengage

Hey I just bought an 00' Ford Ranger Xlt 4x4 and used the 4x4 hi for the first time today. It was icy so I tured it on and once I got to dry road I tured them off. But it still felt like there was a bit of a load on the truck from the 4x4 even though the light went out. Now I know older trucks you would have to back up to fully disengage the 4x4 but do I have to do it on this truck.
Thanks in advanced

I can't remember, but I believe you still have hubs in that truck. Mine stuck on occasionally, and sometimes my brain just made me think that. You do not need to back the truck up to disengage the 4x4 in these trucks, they are electronically controlled. Hence most of us have the stupid know. Keep us posted.
