Yeah, in semis I would not recommend shifting in N...it's a PITA getting it back in gear sometimes.

On a truck, go ahead....but just be cautious...your truck will still be running.

Basically, why put it in N? Just let off the gas! LOL. Your speed will increase with the gas not pushed in or laying the throttle to it going down a hill anyway cause of gravity...

I would leave it in gear just incase you can't get it back in gear when you have it in N to clutch malfunction (if it is about wore out)..

That is technically neutral, you aren't in an engaged gear driving the vehicle.

i used to throw it in neutral, never hurt a thing and my truck never lost control or burst into flames. if you want to do it than do it, if not than dont. i was never less in control of my truck because of it.

I said...leave it in 5th gear (no reason to push in the clutch since you have it in gear) but just let off the gas...

wont pushing in the clutch and coasting down a hill wear out the clutch and burn up the bearings? cause a clutch is like a brake pad. once the material is gone its time to get a new one.
