Default Odd Trans shifting

Hey Im new to this including forums all together. Anyway I had recently changed my battery and noticed a few odd changes in shifting. Before I changed the battery, on my way to work I have to climb a hill from a dead stop. It used to shift fine, I would be into 3rd by the time I got to the top. And my final shift would be at around 50. Now after changing the battery the final shift is at 60 and rpms drag out to 3000.
BTW Its a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0 AUTO.
Thanks in advanced for any help.

When I had some trans issues part of my research here involved relearning the computer.
To do this you start with fully cold vehicle, then disconnect the negative battery terminal. While disconnected make sure all systems are off such as radio,ac,,etc.
Then reconnect battery, start truck with no gas pedal and do not give it gas during any of the procedure.
After the idle drops off high to normal, shift trans into each gear until you feel it engage, then end in park.
Next let the vehicle fully warm up and do it again.
This gives the computer it's base line to work from, now as you drive it will take a bit to relearn your driving style.
I have also read just drive it and after a while it will calibrate it self no need to do the procedure.
Modern technology I tell ya.
