Default Thump while Braking

There is a solid "thunk" when I step on the brakes. I can feel it through the floor and my seat more than hear it. When I start moving again though, there is nothing. I thought maybe it was something loose, sliding forward, but aside from my rotting tailpipe (that makes a completely different sound :P) everything is tight underneith. I shook my wheels in and out while it was on the ground, and the only thing I could get was a metallic "Clack" from the back wheels. Anybody have anything similar to this?

I have a new rear window, added a tach and an oil pressure gauge. The rest is still stock.

i just had a similar problem.. I would hear a clank and a bump when i came to a stop . It had to be a hard stop but not hard enough to get the ABS to work.. Turned out the bushings in the leaf spring eyes were bad and causing shift
heres the crazy thing about it tho.. i had a bad right motor mount and it would do this after a hard stop when i took off... after i had the motor mount fixed it would only happen on the stop

Just to be on the safe side. Check your caliper bolts. My girlfriend's car had a similar issue and it turned out one of the caliper bracket bolts fell out. When she braked, the caliper and bracket would hit the wheel and move back when the brakes were released.

Not a common thing but something to look for...
