convert 2wd to 4wd

lookin at gitting another ranger it a 90 ext cab 2wd i was wondering with out going radicle like my old s10 and doing a full straight axel swap i was told that the 4wd parts should bolt right up to the frame is that right and what all will it take other that transfercase and shafts and front end what all do i need for the swap cuz i want the truck but i want 4wd but the trucks $200 i cant say no it runs and drives

Usually, the RWD frame is not the same as the 4X4 frame, so it will not be a direct bolt on. Unless you are going to modify the frame and do a solid axle swap or you have the RWD model that has the torsion bars in the front, you won't be able to do it without going radical.

Save your money for a 4X4.

I tried this on a 94 2wd with the 2.3. I had an eniter donor 4.0 4x4 without cab. Pre '97 models have TTB or TIB. Thats twin traction or Twin Eye Beam.

TTB is 4wd and TIB is 2wd.

I was going to just swap the TTB into the 2wd frame, but the saddles are different from 2wd to 4wd. It can be done, you just have to swap the saddles along with the TTB.

A 4cy 4wd would be awesome with like some 4.10, at least I think so.

You have a '90 there are no torsion bars. You can swap in parts all the up to '97.
