So I bought my '10 Supercab Sport, 5spd, 4.0L SOHC, back in July. I've put about 3500kms on it, and the clutch started squeaking about 500kms ago. It seems to be worse in the mornings and on humid days, but now that the weather is a lot cooler and will be below freezing soon, I'm guessing it'll be constant til I get it fixed.

Is this normal? I had a Corolla with a squeak and they had to replace the master cylinder. Same thing on my parents' Civic.

Thoughts?

I have just reached a similar mark and have the exact same problem, it does seem to be worse on days that are more humid, and now that its getting cold it squeeks every freaking time i push the clutch in. I have not found many solutions and i have not brought it up with ford yet.


Since your truck is so new, did you know that there's a recall on the rear parking break actuator? I just got my work done on it. Also, do yourself a favour and check between the plastic grill and the steel radiator frame - the fiberglass header. Mine developed cracks in it somehow (ive never had an accident, brand new ranger nearing 3500 kms) and i took it all the way with ford, even had a second opinion but as you could expect, no dice my only option is small claims court. Hopefully for all other ranger buyers this is just me happening to get a poorly made bit of fibreglass.

Anyways, as to your clutch problem, do you still have it? I noticed your post was from back in august. Several sites have said that others got it too but others have been able to get it replaced...only to have it come back again!

Their was a TSB on the '09 and earlier models for a clutch squeak, bring it back to the dealer and ask about it.

Yeah phoned them about it. Apparently this is the first 2010 with the issue and they're "looking into it". I mentioned specifically about the expansion of the TSB from the 08 to the 09. I expect a reply in about 4 years. So, i'll likely have to go into this under waranty anyway. We'll see whats on the go!

According to the TSB they didn't use enough moly paste on the face of the throwout bearing which causes the squeak. The fix is to drop the transmission and replace the clutch, pressure plate and slave.

so it's in the trans housing? or in the cab? .....mine did it inside the cab. got some aerosol lithium grease and lubed everything. it stopped.

This is ridiculous. Did not pay all this money to have these issues. Oh well, Toyota, here I come (-:

Does yours even squeak? My 02 is exactly the same as your 10' (minus traction control) And i have never had a problem with my clutch squeaking.

Sadly it does. Have 30k on it, and started about 4-5k ago. At first, only when taking off on hill, and even then not all the time. Has gotten worse since then. I found that if I take off super slow, in 1st, squeek is pretty minimal. When I drive normal, squeek gets pretty loud.
