Anyone, please
I have a 96 with a 2.3 and i had a new clutch installed, the mechanic did not use the fill bolt on the transmission to fill after re-installing, instead, he poured it through the gear shifter.
Drive truck to Mc donalds and red transmission fluid comes squirting out inside the cab through where the metal plates moutns to the transmission through the slit in the boot ( see picture). It Looked Like Death!
i figured it was overfilled and heard that you suppost to fill the transmission until it starts draining back out of the fill bolt. so i undid the fill bolt. alot of fluid came out.
now, im trying to put my shifter back in but whenever i put it into the top of the trasmission it fits fine and scerws in, but will not move into any gears, no parts are broke, the transmission is still in 1st from whenever i took the shifter out, i can even drive it around the block.
its like the metal piece that goes into the transmission to move the gears is not attached correctly or it is hung in gear? it was driving and shifting perfect before i took the shifter out,(whenever the fluid was coming out)...anyone got any ideas? ive never done this before and i really need to fix my truck!!--heres what im lookin at-
