Default Shift selector off

I have a 97 Ranger 4.0 4x4. My shift selector pin is showing when the truck is in park the selector pin in between park and neutral. I can shift it into all other grees but low1 since my column shifter will not move that far to place in into low1. Theres nothing like counting the clicks when putting it into drive.

Is there anjustment that I can make somw where?

Thanks

I found a "string" in my 2004 that adjusts this. Don't know if it'll work in yours, but:

Take off your plate under the steering wheel and the metal plate under it. Get down underneath and look for a "string"/cable on the inside of the steering column. This cable goes from the gear selector to the needle on the gauge cluster. All I did was tighten it with the wheel that went around it.

I wish this was easier to explain or that I had pictures. Not gonna take that crap off just yet. Just take that stuff off and look for that string/cable that comes own out of the steering column.

Hope this helps.

^^Hopefully it does have it. Just look for the black knob on the threaded plastic case and turn it in the right direction. I just had to do the new cluster I put in.
