I'm having problems figuring this out fift gear really bogs out on me I now it the tires I got( 35") so I whant to do a gear change I got a ford ranger edge 3.0 step cab with a fox lift 7" front 5" rear. were do I go about getting the right gears to fit the truck? I know that there are diffrent sizes and I'm not sure what mine is. Is there any way I can mesure my differential

Wait for someone smarter to chime in, but you have to look at the numbers on the sticker inside your door to figure out what gears you have.

See this post to find out what you've got:

Rear Axle Codes

See this post to figure out what you want:

Tire and Gear Ratio Guide

I'm still stock, so maybe others can chime in with personal experience.

If you got 35's get 4.88's. People run 4.88's with 35's and their 4.0's. You're 3.0 would definitely needs those gears for that size tire.

Door sticker. It's inside the drivers side door jam.

Yea his best bet would be to get a 8.8 rear from an Explorer. Then he could get 5.13's since he's 2wd(which I didn't know before) and have even better power.

The only thing that has to be done is the spring perches have to be re-welded because Explorers are "spring-under" where our trucks are not.

your going to have to look for an explorer older then 02 because they went to a independant rear end also another good part about doing an explorer rear end swap is that you get disk brakes on the rear
