Default driveshaft interchange

My friend has a 1998 standard cab short bed 2.5L 5 speed Ranger. We need a driveshaft for this truck. What other Ranger shafts will fit? We would prefer aluminum if we can find it. Thanks.

I would say any ranger 98+ would work

I heard aluminum drive shafts only come on automatics.

I was wondering if we could use the shaft out of either truck.

if it's a 2wd, it has to be from the same trans you have now. auto yoke will not work with a manual trans, and the lengths are different. i ran into this trying to get one for my 97. kept getting manual driveshafts for my auto and they wouldn't fit.

the alum ones came in ext cabs replacing the old 2 piece driveshafts. only way to get one of them to fit would be to have it cut down and welded back together.

oh, you will have to get one from a 98+ reg cab as they are about 3" longer than the 97 and older.
