Default 92 Ranger xlt manual transmission problems please help.

I have a 92 Ford Ranger xlt. It has a manual 5 speed transmission and a 4 cylinder engine. I believe the tranny is a mazda. Anyway, it is extremely difficult to shift into first and second gear when it is stopped and in neutral, so when I start the truck I have to have it in first gear before I turn the key, also, when I am driving I must first shift it into first gear before coming to a dead stop otherwise I will be stuck at the stop sign/light trying to shift into first from neutral. Some lights where I live are very long to hold in the clutch, plus it worries me that my transmission is going out. What is this? I was thinking of adding some transmission fluid but I can't find a solid answer anywhere of which type I should use. Also when the truck has been sitting there for awhile and I begin to drive it, it jerks around a lot while in first and second gear till it warms up. Thanks for the help in advance.

this will help you find out which transmission it is and what to use in it , sounds like a fluid problem to me

Do you have any brake fluid in the reservor for the clutch? You have an hydrolic clutch in there and if it gets low it will do that. Second thing it could be is your slave cylinder and hope it not that because you have to remove the tranny to replace it (because it slides over the input shaft in the tranny) and if you have to do that then you might as well put a new clutch in it while you have the tranny out. BUT 9 times out of 10 your low in brake fluid in the little reservor that is located to the right of the master cylinder for the brakes.

its the slave, mine does the same thing if i dont pump the pedal like 50 times, i replaced the clutch last year and forgot to do the slave while we had the tranny out, i've bled my fluid like 20 times too. im going to drop the tranny soon and do it because its fuking up my tranny. it didnt start doing it until like 5 months ago but i've been doing what i can to make it last as long as i can until i drop the trans again
