Default 4WD to 2wd downgrade, 93 Ranger

I have a very worn M50D 4WD and a decent M50D 2WD that I might need to use for now. Would the only difference between them here be the driveshaft (and of course the loss of 4WD) ?
It has the limited slip rear, so in my case it won't be such a big deal for awhile, until I can arrange another 4WD one.
My current driveshaft does have the carrier bearing, which Ford renamed to something I can't recall, due to having named a bearing within the transmission as the carrier.
There were other driveshafts which worked on the 93 which had no carrier, I think it was a 98?

Anyways, Can I use the 2WD M50D in place of the 4WD by using another driveshaft?

Thank you for any input on this

Providing the good trans came from behind the same engine you could make do, and if so, why not change out the gears, using the 4wd output shaft and housing and be done?

Hello Tom, I've never torn one down or put one back together, and not even sure if I could first try.
This is my only wheels atm and I need a quick fix.
On the positive side, I do have three of them, and again, atm, the 2wd is the only one which doesn't require a complete rebuild. I can use the 2wd until tearing down the others to see what I can do with them.

Will I only need to find a 2wd 125" wheel base drive shaft ?
Will the specific rear differential need to also match?

Rear end shouldn't play a part in it, unless the mounting flange is different than the 2wd drive shaft, and most likley a driveshaft the right length would be all you need.
