Bad Door switch stop the 4x4 engagement?
My truck is a 2000 ext cab 4.0 ohv xlt, Auto, 3"lift on 31x10.50 159000miles.
So for about 3months now my 4 wheel drive will not engage. I have dove deep into the web searching for all fixes. I have tested the actuator motor on the transfer case, It works. I have done the ignition/start test and both hi and low light for 4x4 flash once during starting and go out. In "N" I pressed the brake and selected 4hi, repeat clicking under dash about 6 times then stops. 4low same thing, except it clicks a little longer. then stops. I have no codes either.
I read one thread were this fella claims on the extended cab trucks, which I have, the module will keep the 4x4 from engaging if the back doors switch malfunctions.
Now about my issue with that. For about 3 yrs that dome light stayed on so I just removed it an placed a small flash light in the console. heheheh, Simple fix might have hurt the module?
Has anyone here ever heard of that? The guy who shared the info mentioned the module(cant remember what he called it, I think GEM but I am not sure) shared functions and earlier models has separate modules. My model has the one in the dash. I have not pulled it out to check because I am clueless on what to check for.
