front brake help
i own a 1994 ranger xlt. its the 4.0 v6 with 4 wheel drive. someone who owned the truck before me has done some swapping and possibly upgrading of parts but i unfortunately did not acquire a list of these things. i came to find that the front calipers had been replaced with dual piston calipers off of a 2000ish explorer. i recently decided to replace the rotors as they were getting pretty bad. i determined the rotors were probably off of a ranger as they have the lugs pressed into them and the rotors from an explorer do not. when i put the new rotors on and tighten the locking rings down, the rotor presses against the back side of the caliper bracket and locks it in place. it will not spin. i found the ones i had bought have a thickness of 2.5 inches and i found another type that has a thickness of 2.2 inches. i bought them thinking it might fix my issue but it turns out the bearings do not fit into this style of rotor. my question is does anyone have any experience with explorer brake swaps who may have an idea of where to go from here? i really dont want to go back to the single piston ranger calipers but im afraid i may have to. the only thing i changed is the rotors.
