Default Help with Metal object in Transmiss pan

I have a 1993 Ranger. I took of the transmission pan to change the filter and gasket. This (see attached images) was laying in the bottom of the pan which was troubling. It does not appear to be damaged of broken in any way. Can anyone help me identify it?

Thanks for the help.

might it be an assembly part that is intended to fall down into pan filter after assembly? assuming this is an auto transmission and this is it's first time for the pan to be dropped of course...

That's the piece that goes between a servo and a band, if all works ok, not a problem.

If you continue to run it like that you stand a chance of the other strut on the other end of band to come loose and cause a lot damage to case and other hard parts. Will stress other parts when not able to operate correctly. Will be missing 2nd or 4th gear as to which band is not operating. I would suspect you were taking the pan off off a 30 year old transmission because you were having shifting issues.
