Hi all,
I have a rear hub leaking fluid and need to replace the seal.
My question is that my dif has no cover plate and appears to be a sealed unit.
Does anyone know how I remove the shaft without being able to release it by disconnecting from the dif.
H
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Cheers.
Craig.
If its a ranger the only way it wouldn't have a cover is if someone swapped a 9" in it in which case you wouldnt need to open it to pull the axle shafts anyway...
Hi. This is what I have!
Could you let me know how I go about removing the shaft so I can replace the seal please?
Also what would be the reason for swapping to a 9"?
Kind regards.
Craig
On rear ends like that normally the axle bolts on the brake backing plate at the end of the axle housing. The bearing is pressed on the axle shaft and acts as the oil seal.If you remove the four bolts the axle should just slide out.
Remove the wheel, brakes etc and youll find a plate with 4 bolts behind the axle flange. Remove that and the axle will be able to be pulled out (usually a slide hammer is needed) Then you press the bearing off the shaft and replace.
